(Feb. 4) – The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic has once again earned its title as the "Pipeline to the SEC." A total of 30 members of the Alabama and Mississippi team rosters who participated in the December 12 talent showcase in Mobile signed national letters of intent on Wednesday to attend SEC schools next year. In addition, 50 members of the 2009 All-Star Classic rosters signed with Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools on Wednesday. In all, 67 of the 74 All-Star Classic players have currently signed scholarships to play college football at some level next year, with most of the remaining players expected to sign offers at either four-year or two-year schools in the coming days. During the 2009 season, a total of 84 former All-Star Classic players were on the rosters of the 12 SEC schools, and that number should increase substantially in 2010 with this new large group of incoming freshmen. "To have so many of our 2009 players sign with SEC and other major college programs is very gratifying and serves as a perfect indication as to the tremendous quality of talent that participated in this year's nationally-televised event," said All-Star Classic Executive Director Vic Knight. "We're looking forward to seeing so many of these guys make major contributions for their new college programs, like so many other All-Star Classic grads before them, in the very near future." The list of All-Star Classic players signing with SEC schools was also spread out throughout the conference, as at least one All-Star Classic player signed with ten of the 12 SEC schools.
